Orientation

Welcome to Momentum, your all-in-one workspace designed to simplify donor engagement, optimize your outreach, and free up time for building meaningful relationships.

1. Orientation: Navigating Momentum

Momentum is structured to streamline your workflow. Here’s a breakdown of the top navigation bar from left to right:

Home & Inbox

  • Home (M Logo): Always brings you back to the Inbox, the core of your daily work.

  • Inbox: Your centralized action hub where you:

    • Draft and send outreach

    • Respond to donor communications

    • Manage tasks and follow-ups

Donors: Managing Your Constituents

  • Table: A spreadsheet-like view of assigned donors and prospects.

  • Segments: Organizes donors into strategic groups based on their fundraising journey.

  • Lists: Temporary, ad-hoc groupings for specific outreach needs (e.g., post-event follow-ups).

Workspace: The Brain of Momentum

  • Templates: Pre-written AI prompts and mail merge templates for outreach.

  • Cadences: Pre-set donor journeys (e.g., Welcome Series for new donors).

  • Automations: Triggers that streamline engagement based on donor actions.

  • Prospecting: Identifies your next best donor outreach opportunities.

  • User & Org Bio: Custom AI context for personalizing outreach.

2. The Inbox: Managing Your Donor Interactions

The Inbox is where donor engagement happens. It is designed as a single, organized space to manage outreach and responses.

Action Queue (Left Panel)

  • Displays a list of actions that need attention, including:

    • Manually created tasks

    • Automated recommendations based on donor activity

Donor Sidebar (Right Panel)

Provides a comprehensive donor profile, including:

  • Overview: Name, segment, CRM link, key contact details, giving history summary.

  • Plan: Upcoming and past actions (both manual and automated).

  • History: A timeline of previous gifts and engagements.

3. Creating New Actions & Outreach

Momentum allows you to efficiently craft outreach using AI and automation.

Step 1: Define Your Audience

  • Choose an individual or group.

  • Exclude specific recipients from group outreach as needed.

Step 2: Key Points to Communicate

  • Use AI prompts to generate message drafts.

  • Provide guidance like “Make this warmer” or “Don’t be weird.”

  • Apply templates for efficiency and consistency.

Step 3: Select Action Type

  • Email, Letter, or Call

    • Email supports multiple recipients.

    • Letters and Calls are currently individual-only actions.

Step 4: Schedule or Send

  • Choose a date for immediate or scheduled delivery.

  • Review AI-generated drafts before sending.

Final Touches

  • Attach files.

  • Set follow-up actions (e.g., “If no reply” automation).

  • Edit or discard drafts as needed.

4. Workspace: Customizing Your Engagement Strategy

Your Workspace powers automation and personalization.

Templates: Content Library for Outreach

  • Shared across the organization for team-wide consistency.

  • Store AI prompts and mail merge templates.

  • Customize pre-set AI prompts or create your own.

  • Use merge variables for personalized messages.

Example: Automatically insert donor names, giving history, and other dynamic fields into your emails.

Cadences: Mini Donor Journeys

  • Pre-built sequences like Welcome Journeys for new donors.

  • Helps ensure consistent, well-timed follow-ups.

Automations: Streamlining Engagement

Momentum provides default automations to help you stay proactive:

  1. Get in Touch – Triggers an action if a donor has gone X days without contact.

  2. No Reply Follow-Up – Reminds you to follow up if an email goes unanswered.

  3. Gift Expected – Predicts upcoming gifts and prompts action.

  4. Gift Received – Automates thank-you messages (one-time or recurring gifts).

  5. Gift Anniversary & Birthday – Prompts outreach for donor milestones.

🔹 Customizing Automations: Modify rules, timing, and language per donor segment.

5. Prospecting: Prioritizing High-Value Donors

Momentum’s Prospecting feature helps uncover mid-level donors who have the potential to increase their giving. This feature is onboarded separately for optimal setup.
